The drive wheel is made for a standard 5/8-inch keyed shaft.
The key transfers motor torque directly into the wheel rather than relying entirely on a set screw.
This creates a positive mechanical connection between the motor shaft and the drive wheel during aggressive grinding.
Built-In Alignment for the BA Shredder
The drive wheel’s center-web thickness was designed specifically around the BA Shredder and a standard 56C-frame motor.
Because compatible 56C motors use a common shaft length, installation is straightforward:
Align the end of the motor shaft with the outside face of the drive wheel’s center web.
When those two surfaces are flush, the drive wheel is automatically positioned in line with the other wheels in the BA Shredder belt path.
This removes much of the measuring and trial-and-error normally associated with drive-wheel placement.
Instead of repeatedly sliding the wheel along the shaft and checking belt alignment, the operator has a clear mechanical reference.
The correct wheel position is built into the design.
Reducing Alignment Errors
Drive-wheel position is critical.
If it sits too far inward or outward, the tracking system may be forced to compensate for a belt path that was never properly aligned.
That can contribute to:
